Practical Experience

Faisal Shah is the principal of Faisal A. Shah, PLLC, a law firm based in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Shah launched his own law firm after several years of practice in small and large law firms in Houston.

Mr. Shah handles a variety of corporate and transactional matters for high net worth individuals, local businesses and overseas-based businesses including: business entity formation and corporate governance; corporate finance (debt and equity); mergers and acquisitions of privately-held businesses; project development and construction; and acquisitions and dispositions of businesses in bankruptcy.

Mr. Shah has considerable transactional experience in the healthcare, software/information technology, hospitality, fuel supply and retail industries. For the past several years, however, his practice has focused on the energy industry. Mr. Shah routinely represents overseas and local interests in the acquisition and development of oil and gas interests throughout the United States and acquisitions and dispositions of oilfield services companies. Mr. Shah has also represented developers of power plants in power generation projects in 14 countries around the world.

Alongside his energy-based transactional practice, Mr. Shah has developed a reputation in the legal community for providing certain niche practices; he represents senior corporate executives in company investigations and government investigations, he provides expert witness services to attorneys developing legal malpractice cases against other attorneys, and he provides general counsel services to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Shah holds a B.A. in History and English from the University of Houston and a J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin.

When he is not practicing law, Mr. Shah enjoys traveling and cooking.

Spent 13 years at Compaq Computer Corp., the last 5 as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary; responsible for the delivery of all legal services to multi-billion dollar organizations delivering design, development, manufacture, distribution and sale of technology products and services on a worldwide basis. Serving on senior management team, he addressed legal issue including general commercial, technology licensing, customs and exports, antitrust, acquisitions & divestitures, labor, patent strategy, litigation management and judicial reform in multiple countries.

Served in several business capacities (including CEO) for an early stage Internet distribution company. Focused on business development, raising capital, negotiation of supplier agreements, licensing of intellectual property, and developing sound business and governance practices.

Practiced as an associate for Bracewell & Patterson in Houston, Texas focusing in commercial litigation.
